Melania Trump docuseries announcement sparks online reactions

Washington, Aug 10: Reports of a new Amazon Prime Video docuseries featuring First Lady Melania Trump have triggered mixed reactions on social media, with several users on X questioning the need for another production following the release of her earlier documentary.

According to recent reports, Melania's senior adviser Marc Beckman announced that a new multi-episode series is being planned for Prime Video. He said the project would offer viewers a "completely different" experience and show a side of the First Lady that has not previously been seen.

The new series is expected to provide a broader look at Melania Trump's life, including her role during Donald Trump's second presidency, her private life, family, career and philanthropic activities. Current reports indicate that the series is planned for release in fall 2027.

Amazon has not yet released an official trailer or detailed synopsis for the upcoming series.

The announcement comes months after Amazon MGM Studios released Melania, a feature-length documentary that followed the First Lady during the 20 days leading up to Donald Trump's 2025 inauguration. The film was released in theatres in January and later became available on Prime Video in March. Amazon said the film grossed more than USD 16.6 million worldwide in its theatrical run.

The earlier documentary received sharply divided reactions. While it attracted a strong audience response, critics were considerably less positive. The film's reported production and marketing expenditure also prompted discussion over Amazon's investment in the project.

Social media users react

News of another Melania Trump documentary project quickly spread across X, where users expressed a range of reactions, many of them critical.

One user wrote, "Stop trying to make Melania happen."

Another questioned the public interest in the project, while a third mocked the announcement by suggesting that audiences had already seen enough of Melania Trump through the earlier documentary.

Another post criticised Amazon's decision to invest further in Melania-related content, referring to the reported cost of the earlier film.

The reactions highlight the continuing debate surrounding Amazon's relationship with the Trump family and its decision to invest in projects centred on the First Lady.

Despite the criticism, Melania Trump remains a subject of considerable public interest because of her relatively limited public appearances and her role as First Lady during Donald Trump's second term.
