Mangaluru, Aug 11: A man who had been on the run for nearly six years in connection with multiple criminal cases has been arrested by personnel of the Mangaluru Women’s police station and produced before the court.

The arrested accused has been identified as Mohammed Imran, 36, a resident of Gurupura Ulaibettu.

A warrant had been pending against Imran in Case No 10/2020 registered at the Mangaluru Women’s Police Station under Sections 376 and 506 of the IPC, as well as in C C No. 2225/2021 before the competent court.

After evading arrest for nearly six years, Imran was finally traced and arrested by officers and personnel of the Mangaluru Women’s police station. He was subsequently produced before the court.

The court has remanded him to judicial custody until August 24.

Imran is also wanted in connection with other cases. Warrants are pending against him in Case No 16/2020 of the Puttur Women’s police station under Sections 342 and 363 of the IPC and Section 12 of the POCSO Act.

Another warrant is pending in Crime No 149/2012 of the Kankanady Town police station under Sections 384 and 34 of the IPC.

Police are continuing further legal proceedings in connection with the pending cases.
