Mangaluru, Aug 15: Carmel School celebrated the 80th Independence Day with great patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. The programme commenced with a prayer service, invoking God’s blessings on the nation, followed by inspiring patriotic songs that filled the atmosphere with pride and unity.

The celebration was graced by the presence of the chief guest, Sunil Kumar Bajal; Sr Marie Evelyn, the joint secretary, St Ann’s Campus Institutions; the heads of the Campus Institutions; Sr Rosevera, the principal; Sr Savitha, the vice principal; Tanvi Amin , the vice president of the PTA; along with the sisters, staff members, parents, and students. The well disciplined and impressive school band welcomed the dignitaries with the rhythmic beats.

Sr Rosevera, the principal warmly welcomed and introduced the chief guest and all the dignitaries, setting a gracious tone for the celebration.

The significance of Independence Day was eloquently presented, reminding everyone of the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and the importance of preserving the values of freedom, unity and peace. The students shared their vision for a better and united nation, inspiring everyone with their thoughtful ideas and aspirations. The students also presented a spirited rendition of Vande Mataram, which filled the atmosphere with patriotic pride.

The chief guest, Sunil Kumar Bajal, addressed the gathering and shared his words of wisdom, encouraging the students to uphold the values of patriotism, responsibility, unity, and service to the nation.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the chief guest, dignitaries, parents, staff members, and students for their valuable presence and contribution to the success of the celebration.

The cultural programme was presented by grade 8, in the school auditorium with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. The programme was graced by the presence of Sr Marie Evelyn, the joint secretary of St Ann’s Institutions, Sr Rosevera, the principal, Sr Savitha, the vice principal, Tanvi Amin, vice president of the PTA, the sisters, faculty, and students.

The programme began with a prayer service seeking God’s blessings upon our nation and its people.

A graceful welcome dance set the tone for the celebration. This was followed by an inspiring skit titled ‘Azaadi Kab Milegi?’ The students also presented ‘Unity in Diversity,’ a colourful cultural presentation showcasing India’s rich heritage, traditions and diversity. This was followed by three vibrant dances representing the diverse cultures and traditions of our country. A soulful patriotic song further filled the auditorium with a deep sense of pride and love for the nation.

Sr Rosevera, the principal, addressed the gathering and reminded the students that freedom comes with responsibilities. She emphasised the importance of helping others, being kind and understanding that Independence Day is not merely a celebration but a reminder to carry the values of freedom, unity and responsibility into our daily lives.

The BulBuls and Cubs were honoured with Heerak Pankh and Chathurtha Charan awards respectively by Sr Marie Evelyn.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the sisters, principal, vice principal, staff members, and students who contributed in making this celebration a meaningful and memorable one.

This event successfully instilled a sense of patriotism, unity, responsibility and national pride among the students.
