Mangaluru, Aug 15: Ryan International School, Mangaluru, celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day on August 15 with great pride and patriotic fervour, embracing the inspiring theme “Yuva Shakti for Viksit Bharat @2047.” The celebration highlighted the joy of freedom while emphasising the significant role of young citizens in shaping the future of our nation.
The celebration commenced with a guard of honour and the warm reception of the esteemed chief guest, Dr Vishanz Pinto, distinguished historian, academician and researcher, and guest of honour, Reuben Machado, accomplished multi-instrumentalist, music educator and performer, by the principal and members of the school council.
The programme began with prayers and blessings through the Lord’s Prayer, scripture reading and special prayer, followed by the hoisting of the National Flag and the singing of the National Anthem.
The celebration featured welcome addresses in English, Hindi and Kannada, a vibrant patriotic dance, the felicitation of the dignitaries, an inspiring patriotic speech, and a soulful patriotic song. Students who excelled in the SOF and NOF examinations, along with those who participated in the Karnataka ICSE Schools Association (KISA) Regional-Level Father George Hess Memorial Literary Competitions, were felicitated in recognition of their outstanding achievements.
The guest of honour, Reuben Machado, shared inspiring and motivating thoughts with the students. He also paid a musical tribute to the nation by playing the flute in honour of “Vande Mataram,” adding a special patriotic touch to the occasion. The chief guest, Dr Vishanz Pinto, spoke about the history and heritage of Mangaluru and highlighted the significance of Independence Day, encouraging students to value their heritage and appreciate the freedom we enjoy today.
Adding a green touch to the celebration, a tree plantation ceremony was also held, reflecting the vision of our founder chairman, Dr A F Pinto, — “Each One, Plant One” — and reaffirming the school’s commitment to a greener, cleaner and more sustainable India.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, leaving everyone with a renewed sense of pride, responsibility and commitment towards building a strong, united and developed India by 2047.
