Ujjain, Aug 16: A Goa-based man found an unusual use for artificial intelligence after using ChatGPT to locate his missing pair of clogs among hundreds of shoes outside the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.
Shubhang Borkar turned his smartphone into an AI-powered scanning tool after struggling to identify his footwear from the crowded racks outside the temple. He shared the experiment on Instagram in a video titled "Used ChatGPT to find my lost clogs."

Borkar, who describes himself as a "hacker on weekdays (cybersec), explorer on weekends", first photographed the rows of footwear outside the temple. With several similar-looking shoes and slippers lying together, he found it difficult to locate his pair.
He then opened ChatGPT and uploaded photographs of his clogs along with images of the footwear racks. He told the chatbot that he was at the Mahakal Temple and had lost his footwear among the shoes left outside.
Borkar continued photographing different sections of the racks and sending the images to ChatGPT, asking the AI tool to identify his pair.
After analysing the photographs, ChatGPT eventually directed him towards a specific pair of clogs, helping him locate the missing footwear.
The experiment demonstrated an unusual real-world application of AI, turning what could have been a frustrating search outside a crowded temple into a technology-assisted hunt.
Borkar's video has attracted attention online for its unconventional use of ChatGPT, showing how AI-powered image recognition can potentially assist with everyday tasks beyond its commonly discussed applications.
