Israel, Aug 20: Border Police officers have seized 162 kg of avocados suspected to have been stolen from agricultural fields near the community of Yesodot in central Israel, police said.
During an operation by Central District Border Police officers, personnel noticed a suspicious vehicle in an agricultural area near Yesodot in the Nahal Sorek Regional Council.

Officers inspected the vehicle and found a large quantity of avocados in the trunk. They suspected the produce had been stolen and detained a person found near the vehicle.
A representative from the community was called to the scene and confirmed that the avocados were of a variety grown in Yesodot's agricultural fields. The produce weighed 162 kg.
The suspect was arrested and taken for further questioning, while the vehicle and the seized produce were also taken into police custody.
The incident comes amid concerns among farmers in the area over the theft of agricultural produce, particularly during periods when crops are ready for harvest. Such thefts can result in financial losses for farmers and undermine the effort invested in cultivating the crops.
