Indian national dies in Israel, suspect arrested; embassy monitoring case

Tel Aviv, Aug 20: An Indian national has died in Israel, with local authorities arresting a suspect in connection with the incident, the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv said on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified by the embassy as Rajiv Acharya. In a statement shared on social media, the Indian mission expressed deep sorrow over his death and said it was in close contact with Israeli authorities.

According to the embassy, Israeli authorities have informed it that a suspect has been arrested and that an investigation is underway to establish the full facts and circumstances surrounding the incident.

The embassy did not disclose further details about the circumstances of Acharya's death or the identity of the arrested suspect.

The Indian mission conveyed its condolences to Acharya's family and said it was ready to provide all possible assistance to them.

The embassy also said it would continue to closely monitor the case and remain in contact with the concerned Israeli authorities as the investigation progresses.
