Pakistani MP claims UAE hotel denied stay to travellers after flight cancellation

Daijiworld Media Network – Islamabad

Islamabad, Aug 20: Pakistani MP and former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser has alleged that Pakistani travellers, including himself, were denied hotel accommodation in the United Arab Emirates after their flights were cancelled.

Qaiser raised the issue in Pakistan's Parliament and urged the country's Foreign Office to take up the matter with UAE authorities. He claimed that, following the cancellation of his flight, an announcement at the airport stated that only Indian and US passport holders would be accommodated at the hotel.

Recalling his experience, Qaiser described the treatment of Pakistani passengers as inappropriate and said he had objected to what he considered discriminatory treatment. He also pointed to the close relations between Pakistan and the UAE, describing the UAE as a brotherly Islamic country.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader said the matter should be addressed through diplomatic channels and called on the Foreign Office and Foreign Minister to discuss the issue with UAE officials.

Qaiser also referred to the ongoing US-Iran conflict and claimed that Pakistan had played a positive role during the crisis. He said the reported treatment of Pakistani travellers should nevertheless be taken up separately through diplomatic channels.
