Mangaluru, Aug 20: The Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University, organised ‘Rural Roots on Campus: Skills, Games & Simple Joys’ on August 14 for BBA aviation management and BBA aviation and logistics management students.
The programme aimed to reconnect students with traditional rural life, local craftsmanship, and sustainable practices. As part of the programme, students enthusiastically participated in skill-training activities such as coconut leaf knitting and learned about the traditional use of natural materials in everyday life. They also engaged in activities involving arecanut leaves, giving them an opportunity to experience traditional rural games and recreational practices.




The programme provided students with a hands-on learning experience while promoting creativity, teamwork, and appreciation for traditional knowledge. It also helped students understand how naturally available resources can be used in simple, innovative, and eco-friendly ways. The activities created a joyful and interactive atmosphere, allowing students to learn beyond the classroom while experiencing the charm of rural traditions.
The programme also highlighted the importance of preserving indigenous skills and passing traditional knowledge to future generations. Students actively participated in the activities and enjoyed the opportunity to explore simple yet meaningful rural practices.
The event was successfully organized under the guidance and support of the Dr Pavithra Kumari, dean, Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University, SWO, HODs, faculty members, student coordinators and staff members. Their encouragement and coordination ensured the smooth execution of the event.
