Bengaluru, Aug 22: Passengers arriving at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) will have to pay a User Development Fee (UDF) from September 1 following the revised tariff order issued by the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA).

Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) said on Friday that AERA had issued the tariff order for KIA for the fourth control period, covering financial years 2026-27 to 2030-31.

Under the revised structure, the UDF for domestic passengers will be Rs 300 for departing passengers and Rs 125 for arriving passengers. For international passengers, the fee will be Rs 997 for departures and Rs 426 for arrivals.

The revised rates will remain in effect until August 2029. They will subsequently be reviewed based on the progress of major infrastructure projects, including Terminal 2 Phase 2 and associated facilities.

With the new structure, the combined domestic UDF for a departing passenger will be Rs 425, compared with the existing Rs 550. For international departures, the combined fee will be Rs 1,423, compared with the current Rs 1,500.

AERA has decided to distribute the UDF between arriving and departing passengers, in line with the approach adopted at several newly commissioned and major airports across the country.

A BIAL spokesperson said the tariff order also takes into account the significant infrastructure investments planned at the airport to meet future capacity requirements. The projects include T2 Phase 2, the T2 Phase 2 apron, airfield works, road and landside infrastructure and other aeronautical projects.

Certain additional tariffs linked to major projects will be introduced only after the respective infrastructure is completed, commissioned and put into operation, following the process prescribed by AERA, the spokesperson added.

The existing UDF structure for domestic and international departing passengers will continue until August 31.
