Condolence meeting held in Udupi to pay tribute to Lion George Samuel

Udupi, Aug 28: The demise of Lion George Samuel, who played a key role in the progress of Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society and served as its vice-president, is an irreparable loss to the cooperative sector and society, said society president Jayakar Shetty Indrali.

He was speaking at a condolence meeting organised by Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society Ltd., Udupi, at the institution’s Jagannatha Sabha Bhavana to pay tribute to the late George Samuel. Jayakar Shetty Indrali paid floral tribute to his portrait and recalled his contributions.

George Samuel, who had served in a senior position in the Postal Department with dedication, continued his social service even after retirement through the Lions organisation, the Protestant Christian community and various harmony committees. As a director and vice-president of the society, his administrative advice and guidance were invaluable and would always be remembered, the president said.

Society director and close colleague of the deceased, Sadashiva Naik, paid tribute and recalled that George Samuel had earned the respect of everyone through his dedication, honesty and people-friendly nature during his service in the Postal Department.

Even after retirement, he actively worked through the All India Postal and RMS Pensioners’ Association for the resolution of pensioners’ issues and protection of their rights, extending assistance to many people. His social activities, guidance and spirit of service would remain an inspiration to all, Naik said, adding that his demise was a great personal loss as well as a loss to society.

Society directors, the deceased’s son Ranjan Manohar, General Manager Rajesh V Sherigar, Assistant General Manager Praveen Kumar, Accountant Ashwini Kumar M and members of the staff were present at the meeting and offered floral tributes.

A silent prayer was also offered seeking eternal peace for the departed soul and strength for the bereaved family to bear the loss.
