Ramallah, Aug 29: Two Palestinians, including a 15-year-old boy, were injured by live ammunition during an Israeli military raid on the Am’ari refugee camp in the city of Al-Bireh, near Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank early Saturday, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society and Palestinian news agency WAFA.
The Palestinian Red Crescent said its medical teams treated two people who sustained gunshot wounds during the raid. A 15-year-old boy was shot in the back, while a young man sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. Both injured Palestinians were subsequently transferred to hospital for further medical treatment.
The raid took place in the early hours of Saturday in the Am’ari refugee camp, located in Al-Bireh, adjacent to Ramallah. The latest incident follows a series of Israeli military raids and shooting incidents reported across the occupied West Bank in recent weeks.
WAFA had earlier reported an Israeli raid on the same camp on August 18, during which a Palestinian man was shot in the abdomen. The Palestinian Health Ministry said he was taken to Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah and described his condition at the time as critical.
The latest injuries come amid heightened tensions and continued Israeli military operations across the occupied West Bank. In another incident near Ramallah on August 28, two Palestinians were injured by Israeli army gunfire while residents confronted a raid by Israeli settlers in Al-Mughayyir village. WAFA reported that both suffered live-bullet wounds to their legs.
The West Bank has witnessed a series of raids, arrests and shooting incidents in recent weeks, alongside growing violence involving Israeli settlers. On August 23, Israeli forces also shot a young Palestinian man in the foot near Al-Taybeh, east of Ramallah, before detaining him, according to WAFA.
The latest Am’ari camp incident adds to the continuing violence in the occupied territory, where Palestinian medical and humanitarian agencies have repeatedly reported injuries among civilians during military raids.
