Mangaluru, Aug 30: The police have arrested a 40-year-old man who had been absconding for several years without appearing for court hearings in connection with a 2013 robbery case registered at the Mangaluru South police station.
The arrested accused has been identified as Mohammed Touseef (40), son of Syed Mukbal, a resident near Paivalike Temple in Manjeshwar of Kasargod district, Kerala. He is notably the elder brother of notorious chain snatcher Syed Sahil.

Touseef was an accused in crime number 135/2013, booked under section 392 of the IPC. As he had continuously evaded court appearances, the 2nd CJM court had classified the matter as a long-pending case (LPC No 3/2026). Acting on a tip-off and with the assistance of the City Crime Branch (CCB) police, he was finally apprehended at Farangipete on Saturday, August 29.
Following his arrest, Touseef was produced before the court, which has remanded him to judicial custody until September 13.
