Bengaluru, Aug 31: The state government has decided to hold a cabinet meeting in Mangaluru on September 18, with a strong focus on prioritizing proposals related to the coastal districts.

In preparation for the meeting, state chief secretary Dr Shalini Rajneesh has instructed the chief secretaries, principal secretaries, and secretaries of all government departments to immediately prepare comprehensive proposals concerning the coastal region and submit the necessary cabinet notes for approval.

 

The upcoming session in Mangaluru is expected to bring significant administrative attention and developmental focus to the coastal belt.

    This is good news, however Government needs to make sure decisions taken are executed and completed within timelines. Below steps need to be taken during Cabinet meeting: 1) Rename Dakshina Kannada district as Mangaluru district 2) Create Greater Mangaluru Corporation by expanding the current MCC boundaries 3) Tourism - Special grants and single window clearance for tourism projects, relax CRZ guidelines. 4) Airport Expansion - Expand the Mangaluru airport so large body airplanes can operate and request Central Government to grant POC status so foreign airlines can operate from Mangaluru airport 5) Cruise Terminal - Create a dedicated and International standard cruise terminal in Mangaluru 6) International Cricket Stadium - Develop an international cricket stadium 7) Job Creation - Create jobs in coastal region for IT, GCC and other industries 8) Improve infrastructure in coastal region by improving roads, drainage system, move electric lines underground, etc. 9) Create more parks and support beach tourism etc.
