Mangaluru, Sep 1: Konkani Manyata Diwas celebrated at St Aloysius English Medium School Urwa with great enthusiasm and pride on August 31st commemorating the rich heritage and culture significance of the Konkani language.
The programme was graced by Fr Benjamin Pinto, president as the distinguished dignitary. Lawrence Saldanha was the chief guest; Aloysius D'Souza headmaster and Lavina Pinto senior teacher were the present on the occasion.





























The programme commenced with a prayer song followed by vibrant welcome dance which set a warm and festive tone for the celebration.
The welcome speech delivered by Shanvi D’Souza, who warmly welcome the dignitaries, teacher, parents and students.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by all the dignitaries, symbolising the dispelling of darkness and the spreading of knowledge culture and enlightenment. After lighting the lamp, the chief guest played Ghumta to mark the inauguration of the event followed by hoisting of the Konkani Flag.
The celebration focused on creating awareness among students about the importance of Konkani language and culture by Sneha Kuduva.
A special felicitation ceremony was held to honour the chief guest, Lawrence Saldanha in recognition of his valuable contribution and service to the Konkani language and community.
The cultural programmes featured a vibrant array performance, including traditional dances, an engaging skit and a lively Ghumta performance showcasing the rich cultural heritage, traditions and artistic expression of the Konkani community.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Sonia Ferrao, expressing gratitude to all gathered.
The proceedings of the programme were gracefully compered by Nandan Nayak U and Ancia Monteiro.
Sweets were distributed to all gathered as one family.
