Puttur brawl: Three booked over public fight near Press Club

Puttur, Sep 2: The Town police have registered a case against three named persons and others after a group allegedly engaged in a fight at a public place near the Puttur Press Club on Tuesday September 1.

According to the police, inspector Johnson D’Souza received information around noon that a group of people had gathered in front of the Puttur Press Club and were creating a disturbance. Acting on the information, the inspector and police personnel reached the spot and found some individuals allegedly involved in a physical altercation, causing a breach of public peace.

The police inspector reportedly warned the individuals and asked them to stop the quarrel. However, they allegedly continued the altercation despite the warning.

Following the incident, Puttur Town police registered a case under Crime No. 104/2026 under Section 194(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against Praveen Acharya of Mundur, Rawoof of Kurnadka, Hakeem of Bolwar and others.

Further legal action is being initiated in the case, police said.
