Mangaluru, Sep 2: The Centre for Environmental Concern (CEC) of St Aloysius Pre-University College organised an indoor and outdoor plant exhibition and sale on the college campus to encourage students, staff and parents to cultivate an interest in planting and nurturing greenery.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Sumaiyaa, secretary of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), through the symbolic handing over of a sapling. Addressing the gathering, she highlighted the vital role of plants in sustaining the environment and urged everyone to actively participate in planting and caring for trees.

Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ, principal, appreciated the initiative undertaken by the Centre for Environmental Concern. He emphasised the need to translate environmental awareness into meaningful action and encouraged the college community to adopt responsible environmental practices in their daily lives.

The exhibition featured a wide variety of indoor and outdoor plants, providing students, staff and parents with an opportunity to purchase plants and nurture them at home and in their surroundings. The organisers encouraged participants to carry the initiative beyond the campus by creating and maintaining greener spaces in their neighborhoods.

The inauguration was attended by Fr Anthony Derrick SJ, campus minister; members of the Centre for Environmental Concern; staff, students and parents. Janet Pinto compered the programme.
