Mangaluru, Sep 4: Educate Every Mind, Empower Every Girl- International Literacy Day and Girl Child Day at Carmel Central School, Kotekar.
Carmel Central School Kotekar celebrated International Literacy Day and Girl Child Day on 3 September 2026 with great enthusiasm and a meaningful message highlighting the importance of education, literacy, and the empowerment of girls.
The programme began with a prayer song, seeking God’s guidance and blessings. This was followed by a graceful welcome dance, which created a warm and joyful atmosphere. The gathering was formally welcomed, and the purpose and significance of the celebration were introduced.
As a gesture of respect and warm hospitality, a flower pot was offered to the chief guest, Lynette D’Souza. The significance of International Literacy Day and Girl Child Day was then presented, emphasizing that education is a fundamental right and a powerful means of empowering children, especially girls.
A meaningful skit on education and literacy was presented, conveying the importance of education in transforming lives and building a better society. This was followed by a vibrant dance performance, “Gyan Ki Roshni,” which beautifully portrayed education as the light that dispels ignorance. A literacy-themed fusion dance presented by the students further added energy and enthusiasm to the celebration.
The chief guest, Lynette D’Souza, the headmistress of Kanachur Pre- school, addressed the gathering and shared inspiring thoughts on the importance of literacy, education, and the empowerment of the girl child. Her words encouraged the students to value education and make use of every opportunity to learn and grow.
Following the guest’s speech, a prize distribution ceremony was held for students of Grades 5 to 7, recognizing and appreciating their achievements and encouraging them to continue striving for excellence.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest, teachers, students, and everyone who contributed to the successful celebration.
The celebration served as an inspiring reminder that literacy empowers individuals, education transforms lives, and every girl deserves the opportunity to learn, dream, and achieve.
