Srinagar, Sep 5: A Pakistan national and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist allegedly involved in at least three major terror attacks in 2024 was killed in an encounter with the Indian Army in the high-altitude Yusmarg area of central Kashmir on Friday.

The slain terrorist has been identified as Yasir, a Pakistani national associated with the banned LeT outfit, officials said.

The encounter took place in the higher reaches of the Pir Panjal mountain range, close to the border areas of Pulwama district in south Kashmir and Poonch district in the Jammu region.

According to officials, Yasir was allegedly involved in at least three major terror attacks reported in 2024. These include the attack on an Indian Air Force convoy in Poonch, the killing of construction workers in Sonamarg and an attack targeting Army personnel in the Botapathri area.

The encounter occurred despite challenging weather conditions and the difficult terrain at an altitude of around 15,500 feet, officials said.

Meanwhile, security forces have intensified their search for another terrorist identified as Musa, who is believed to be hiding among massive boulders and natural caves in the area.

Search operations are continuing as security forces conduct combing operations across the rugged mountainous terrain.
