Hyderabad, Sep 6: Political tensions in Telangana have intensified ahead of the 2029 Assembly elections, with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy challenging the opposition and asserting that the ruling Congress will secure a decisive victory.

Reddy claimed that Congress would win between 90 and 117 seats in the 2029 Assembly elections and remain in power for a full 10-year term from 2024 to 2034.

The chief minister also challenged former Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president K Chandrashekar Rao to attend the Assembly and participate in proceedings or resign from his position.

The remarks triggered a sharp response from the opposition, which questioned the Congress government over its unfulfilled election guarantees and demanded accountability for promises made to voters.

The opposition accused the ruling party of failing to deliver on key poll commitments and sought answers from the government on the status of the guarantees announced during the 2023 Assembly election campaign.

The exchange has intensified the political battle between the Congress government and the BRS, with both sides seeking to project themselves as the stronger force ahead of the 2029 elections.
