Pernem, Sep 7: A 108 ambulance has been provided to the Keri Sub Health Centre (SHC) in Pernem taluka, providing a major boost to emergency medical services in Keri and surrounding areas.
Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar inaugurated the ambulance in the presence of Keri Sarpanch Darshana Naik, Paliem Sarpanch Radha Parab, medical staff, panchayat members and local residents.
Arolkar said the ambulance was an important requirement for Keri and neighbouring areas. He said he had raised the issue during the recent Legislative Assembly session, following which Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane facilitated the provision of the ambulance.

He said the new service would greatly benefit residents of Keri and nearby areas, particularly during medical emergencies.
Arolkar also said facilities at the Government Hospital and Research Centre in Tuem would be expanded to provide better healthcare services to people in the region.
Work on the operation theatre at the hospital is currently under way, he said.
