New Delhi, Sep 10: Apple has unveiled the iPhone Duo, its first-ever foldable iPhone, marking the company's entry into a segment long dominated by Samsung. The new device features a book-style foldable design with two displays and will go on sale in India from October 23 at a starting price of Rs 2,99,900.
Apple CEO John Ternus described the iPhone Duo as the most transformational change to the iPhone since the original model, saying the device combines new hardware and software experiences to redefine the use of foldable smartphones.

The iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch inner foldable display and a 5.4-inch outer screen, housed in an aerospace-grade titanium frame. Apple said the inner display is significantly larger than that of the iPhone 18 Pro Max, while both displays support the Apple Pencil (USB-C).
The device uses Grade 5 Titanium and Ceramic Shield 2 for its chassis and will be available in Star White and Night Sky colours. Its custom hinge features a variable torque profile, carbon fibre support plates and integrated magnets designed to enable a completely flat closure. Apple has also used a specialised polymer technology to minimise the display crease.
Touch ID has been integrated into the side button, while the inner FaceTime camera is concealed beneath the display until activated.
Powering the iPhone Duo is Apple's A20 Pro chip, which also features in the iPhone 18 Pro models. The smartphone runs on a dynamically adaptive iOS 27 experience designed to adjust according to whether the device is folded, partially opened or fully unfolded.
Users can view two home screens simultaneously, run apps side-by-side and pin videos to one half of the display while working on the other. Apple is also providing API support to developers to optimise their apps for the new foldable form factor.
For photography, the iPhone Duo comes with a 48MP Fusion main camera and a 48MP ultra-wide camera. Features such as Duo Preview allow subjects to view their framing on the outer display, while SmartTake uses AI to automatically capture photographs when everyone is smiling.
In India, the iPhone Duo will be available for pre-order from October 16. The 256GB base variant is priced at Rs 2,99,900, while the top-end 2TB model will cost Rs 4,49,900.
