Riyadh, Sep 10: Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 979th professional career goal as Al Nassr secured a 2-1 victory over Abha in their Saudi Pro League (SPL) clash on Thursday.
Ronaldo opened the scoring for Al Nassr with a header from a corner delivered by Brazil’s Angelo, according to Goal.com.

Abdullah Al-Hamdan doubled Al Nassr’s advantage in the 58th minute before Nabil Fekir pulled one back for Abha with a 75th-minute strike. Al Nassr, however, held on to secure all three points.
The victory leaves Al Nassr second in the SPL standings with 15 points from six matches, having recorded five wins and one defeat. Al Hilal lead the table on goal difference with the same number of points.
According to Opta Arabi, Ronaldo has scored four goals in three SPL appearances against Abha, matching the record of Anderson Talisca and Carlos Strandberg. The Portuguese star has converted four of his eight shots against the side.
Ronaldo has scored three goals for Al Nassr so far this season. His latest strike was his 105th in the Saudi Pro League and 132nd for Al Nassr in 154 appearances.
The 41-year-old continues to remain a key figure for Al Nassr as the club looks to challenge for the Saudi Pro League title.
