Vodafone Idea shares rise as lenders reportedly plan $3.5 billion debt support

Daijiworld Media Network – Mumbai

Mumbai, Sep 11: Shares of debt-laden telecom operator Vodafone Idea gained in early trade on Friday even as benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty fell sharply amid rising crude oil prices and escalating tensions in West Asia.

The 30-share BSE Sensex declined 628.24 points to 74,257.69 in early trade, while the NSE Nifty fell 221.20 points to 23,255.10. Weak global market trends and continued foreign fund outflows also weighed on investor sentiment.

Amid the broader market decline, Vodafone Idea shares opened at Rs 15.10 on the BSE, gaining Rs 0.14 or 0.93 per cent from the previous close of Rs 14.96. The stock subsequently climbed to an intraday high of Rs 15.20, up Rs 0.24 or 1.60 per cent.

The stock was last trading at Rs 15.15, up 1.27 per cent, while the company’s market capitalisation stood at Rs 1,64,139.70 crore.

The movement in the stock comes amid reports that a group of lenders led by the State Bank of India has agreed to provide around $3.5 billion in debt to the telecom operator.

Vodafone Idea’s shares have a 52-week high of Rs 15.78, recorded on September 9, 2026, while its 52-week low stands at Rs 7.31, recorded on September 11, 2025.

According to BSE Analytics, the stock has delivered returns of 80.45 per cent over five years and 34.34 per cent over three years. Over the one-year period, the scrip has gained 104.04 per cent, while it has risen 30.29 per cent year-to-date.

Earlier, Vodafone Idea chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla said the reassessment of adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues had significantly strengthened the company’s balance sheet and improved visibility over its future cash obligations.

Meanwhile, Vodafone Idea has roped in Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan for its new brand identity campaign. Under the revamped logo, the company has moved the two-dimensional yellow dot from below the letter ‘i’ to the top, giving it a three-dimensional spherical appearance.
