New Delhi, Sep 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held a bilateral meeting with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit 2026 in New Delhi.

India is hosting the 18th BRICS Summit, with several heads of state and government and other senior leaders arriving in the national capital for the two-day gathering.

World Health Organisation Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also arrived in India to attend the summit. Maxim Ryzhenkov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, was among the other leaders who arrived in New Delhi for the event.

On Friday, Modi held bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, besides meeting other leaders on the sidelines of the summit.

During his meeting with Modi, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres underlined the importance of multipolarity and the need to reform multilateral institutions, including the UN Security Council, to reflect contemporary global realities.

As part of his engagements during the BRICS Summit, Modi is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister is also set to meet Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung for bilateral discussions.

The meetings are expected to focus on strengthening bilateral relations and advancing cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
