Karkala, Sep 12: The Asare Counselling Cell of Manjunatha Pai Memorial Government First Grade College of Professional and Business Management, Karkala, organized a World Suicide Prevention Day programme on September 10 in the Auditorium.
The event was presided over by Jyothi L Janne, in charge principal and student welfare officer. She spoke about the importance of mental health among students for good study and better scoring in the exams. Sowmya H K, coordinator of the Asare Counselling Cell, presented the introductory speech and highlighted the importance of the programme.

Vinay M S, IQAC coordinator, graced the occasion as a guest of honour. Dr Sunitha Lizzie Pereira, student mental health coordinator, addressed the gathering. She gave some toll-free numbers to get consultation from mental health professionals and trained psychiatrists.
The programme commenced with an invocation by Chandana and Rashmitha of II BA. Sowjanya of II BA welcomed the gathering, Arathi of II BA served as the master of ceremony, and Huligesh of II BA proposed the vote of thanks. The event saw active participation from approximately 191 student beneficiaries belonging to II BA and I B Com A and B sections.
Additionally, esteemed faculty members including Prof Sudarshan, professor of commerce, Dr Mohini, associate professor of commerce, Chethan, assistant professor of commerce, Chandrakanth Shenoy, assistant professor of commerce, and Renuka, assistant professor of Kannada were present to support the initiative.
