Mangaluru, Sep 16: The vibrant corridors of St Agnes School CBSE resonated with cultural pride, artistic expression, and linguistic reverence as the school family gathered to celebrate Hindi Diwas. The event was a grand convergence of devotion, tradition, and theatrical brilliance, reminding every attendee of the richness embedded in our national identity.
The celebration commenced on a serene and divine note with a soulful prayer service, reflecting on our shared values and filling the atmosphere with peace, harmony, and positive energy. Following the prayer, Janice Rachel Mascarenhas of grade VID delivered an eloquent welcome speech, extending greetings to the chief guest and principal, Sr Jenifer Moras A C, along with the vice principal, Sr Meena Fernandes A C, distinguished teachers, and students. The formal welcome was immediately succeeded by a captivating welcome dance, where student performers translated hospitality and joy into graceful, fluid movement.
The programme was gracefully compered by four enthusiastic student anchors: Natalia Sara Crasta of grade VB, Crisel Ana Lasrado of grade VID, Ashni Diona of grade VID, and Punarvi S of grade VB.
A key highlight of the morning was an insightful presentation on the significance of the day by Tanishka Rao ofgGrade VI D. She eloquently walked the audience through the glorious historical trajectory of Hindi literature—spanning the heroic sagas of Adikal, the devotional depth of Bhakti Kal, the aesthetic finesse of Riti Kal, and the progressive realism of Adhunik Kal.
The crown jewel of the event was the feature performance, "The Call of Hindi." Presented as an evocative dance drama, this piece seamlessly blended theatrical dialogue with expressive choreography. Through poignant storytelling and rhythmic movement, the performance highlighted the modern struggle of native languages losing ground to global trends, ultimately delivering a stirring plea to honour and preserve our mother tongue.
The gathering was then privileged to hear an inspiring address by our principal, Sr Jenifer Moras AC. The principal congratulated the students and teachers for their enthusiastic participation in the Hindi Diwas programme. She appreciated the students’ presentations, confidence, and talent, while emphasizing the importance of taking pride in the Hindi language and promoting its use. Encouraging the students to continue their efforts with the same enthusiasm and dedication, she concluded by extending her best wishes and thanking everyone for contributing to the successful event.
The formal proceedings concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Nirvedh Shetty, acknowledging the collective effort of the staff and students.
