Mangaluru, Sep 21: Alison Viegas of Mangalore has successfully completed her PhD in Applied Natural Sciences from the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg (TUBAF), Germany, upon a regular doctorate procedure, based on the thesis, Hafnium oxide based antiferroelectric capacitors for high energy density storage applications.

The thesis focused on studying antiferroelectric Hafnium Oxide, a material which was a recently discovered in 2011, into practical applications in the field of energy storage devices.

Dr Alison Viegas worked at Fraunhofer IPMS, Dresden, Germany during the duration of the thesis and continues to work there as a Scientist.

She studied BE in electronics & communication at St Joseph Engineering College, Mangaluru, and has her M Tech from NITK, Surathkal. She had also worked for more than 5 years in the department of nano sciences at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, before proceeding to Germany.

She's the daughter of Ernest and Matilda Viegas of Falnir, Milagres Parish, Mangaluru and is married to Evren Lobo, currently working in Germany.
