New York, Sep 24: India has secured two nominations at the 54th International Emmy Awards, with comedian Vir Das receiving a nomination in the Comedy category for his Netflix stand-up special Fool Volume, while SonyLIV’s Real Kashmir Football Club has been nominated in the Drama Series category.

The nominations were announced on September 23. The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in New York on November 23.

Das has previously been nominated twice at the International Emmys. He received his first nomination in 2021 for Vir Das: For India, while his stand-up special Vir Das: Landing earned a nomination in 2023 and went on to win the Comedy award.

With Fool Volume, Das returns to the Comedy category. The special draws partly from his experience of losing his voice and explores themes of silence and finding one’s voice.

Das is competing against Division Palermo: Season 2, Man vs Baby and Old Dog, New Tricks in the Comedy category. With his third nomination, he has appeared on the International Emmy nominee list more times than any other Indian performer.

In the Drama Series category, Real Kashmir Football Club is competing against A Thousand Blows, Carême and Menem.

The SonyLIV series, starring Manav Kaul and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, draws inspiration from the real-life Real Kashmir FC and its journey as a professional football club in Jammu and Kashmir.

Released on SonyLIV in December 2025, the series was directed by Rajesh Mapuskar and Mahesh Mathai. It follows the people associated with the club and explores the challenges involved in building a professional football team in Kashmir.

Kaul welcomed the International Emmy nomination and acknowledged the efforts of the cast and crew behind the series.

The 54th International Emmy Awards will feature 64 nominees across 16 categories, representing 22 countries. The ceremony will be held in New York on November 23.
