Mumbai, Sep 24: Actor Mushtaq Khan, known for his roles in films including Welcome, Aashiqui, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, died on Thursday after undergoing treatment for liver cancer. He was reportedly hospitalised for the past 15 days.

His business partner Shivam confirmed the actor's death to India Today. Mushtaq Khan was undergoing treatment at Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital.

According to Shivam, Mushtaq Khan was first diagnosed with cancer around five years ago. The disease had recently relapsed, following which he was admitted to the hospital.

The actor's funeral will be held on Friday, with further details of the arrangements awaited.

Mushtaq Khan had worked in several Hindi films during a career spanning nearly three decades. He was particularly known for his supporting roles in Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke (1993), Jodi No. 1 (2001) and Welcome (2007).

He gained wider recognition for portraying a disabled hockey player in Welcome.

Born in Baihar town in Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat district, Mushtaq Khan went on to establish himself as a familiar supporting actor in Hindi cinema.

The actor had also made headlines in November 2024 after he was allegedly abducted and held for ransom after being lured to Uttar Pradesh on the pretext of attending an event.

According to reports, Mushtaq Khan was abducted on November 20 and taken from Delhi to Bijnor, where he was allegedly held captive and forced to pay a ransom of Rs 2.20 lakh. He managed to escape the following day.
