Tehran, Sep 27: Iran is prepared for a possible renewed US attack and is ready to confront American forces, Iranian Army spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Akraminia said on Sunday, according to Iranian state media.

Akraminia said the United States could launch another attack because of what he described as its difficult regional situation. He warned that Iran was prepared for confrontation and would seek to inflict greater damage on US forces.

The remarks came amid heightened tensions across the Middle East following months of conflict between Iran and the United States and Israel. Iran has repeatedly warned that any renewed military action would trigger a strong response against US interests and bases in the region.

Akraminia has previously said that Iran's military doctrine is shifting towards a more offensive posture, including the possibility of pre-emptive strikes. He said Iranian forces would respond more quickly and forcefully to any new attack.

In July, Akraminia also warned that any US ground offensive against Iran would face heavy fire, saying Iranian forces had prepared operational plans for potential invasion routes and had rehearsed them during military exercises.

The latest warning comes as Tehran and Washington remain at odds over efforts to end the conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global oil shipping route. Iran has said it is prepared to reopen the strait if the United States eases military pressure and lifts its blockade on Iranian ports.

The United States and Iran have also held indirect diplomatic discussions, with efforts focused on ending hostilities, easing economic pressure and restoring shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. However, tensions remain high and both sides have continued to issue warnings over possible further military escalation.
