Beirut, Sep 28: Smoke was seen rising from parts of southern Lebanon’s Bint Jbeil district on Sunday following reports of Israeli attacks in the area, while gunfire was heard in the town of Haddatha.

Local outlet Bint Jbeil News reported the sound of gunfire in Haddatha and published footage showing thick columns of smoke rising from buildings in the town.

Earlier, the outlet had shared video footage showing smoke rising between the towns of Tibnin and Haris, also in the Bint Jbeil district.

Reports from other sources also indicated Israeli airstrikes, artillery fire and explosions in several areas of southern Lebanon, including the vicinity between Haddatha and Haris.

The latest reports come amid continuing military activity in southern Lebanon. Israel has said some of its recent strikes were carried out in response to attacks by Hezbollah, while Lebanese sources have reported continuing Israeli strikes and shelling across the south.

There were no immediate reports available on casualties or the extent of damage in Haddatha from the latest incident.
