Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026 concludes at Yenepoya Naturopathy College

Mangaluru, Oct 1: The department of nutrition and dietetics, Yenepoya Naturopathy and Yogic Science College and Hospital (YNYSCH), Naringana, Deralakatte, Mangaluru, organized the valedictory programme of Rashtriya Poshan Maah–2026 on September 30, at the Auditorium of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University)

Rashtriya Poshan Maah was observed from September 1 to 30, with the objective of creating awareness among students and the community about the importance of adequate nutrition, healthy dietary practices, prevention of malnutrition, and adoption of healthy lifestyle practices. The activities were organized in alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, 2 and 4, focusing on poverty reduction, zero hunger and quality education.

The valedictory programme was attended by Shwetha N, child development project officer, women and child development department, Mangaluru Urban, as the chief guest. Dr Puneeth Raghavendra K R, principal, YNYSCH, presided over the programme. The programme commenced with the escorting of the chief guest to the stage, followed by the invocation and welcome address by Dr Sunitha D’Souza, assistant professor, department of nutrition and dietetics.

A brief report and presentation on the activities conducted as part of Rashtriya Poshan Maah–2026 was presented by Dr Ajith K, associate professor cum dietitian, department of nutrition and dietetics. The presentation highlighted the various awareness, educational and community-oriented activities conducted during the month to promote nutrition education, healthy food choices, prevention of malnutrition and healthy lifestyle practices.

The programme also included a prize distribution ceremony, recognizing the participation and achievements of students in the various activities conducted as part of Rashtriya Poshan Maah. The chief guest addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of nutrition, child growth and development, nutrition education and community participation in building a healthier society.

The programme concluded with the presidential address by Dr Puneeth Raghavendra K R, followed by the vote of thanks delivered by Dr Ajith K, associate professor cum dietitian. The National Anthem was presented at the conclusion of the programme. The programme was compered by Namitha, 4th BNYS.

The organizing committee comprising Dr Sunitha D’Souza, assistant professor, and Dr Ajith K, associate professor, department of nutrition and dietetics, coordinated the programme.

The month-long observance of Rashtriya Poshan Maah–2026 focused on strengthening nutrition awareness, promoting healthy and balanced diets, appropriate food choices, prevention of malnutrition, maternal and child nutrition, and healthy lifestyle practices, while encouraging active participation of students and the community in building a well-nourished and healthier society.
