Puttur, Oct 2: A veteran yoga practitioner died after accidentally falling into a pond and drowning at Nekkila in Bannur here on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Satyanarayana Prasad (Prasad Panaje), 69, originally from Panaje and currently residing at Nekkila. He had gone to the plantation on Thursday morning to collect arecanuts. When he did not return for a long time, a search was launched, following which his body was found in the pond. It is suspected that he may have slipped and fallen into the pond.

He is survived by his wife and two sons. Based on a complaint filed by his wife, Srimathi Prasad, a case has been registered at Puttur Town Police Station.

Prasad had completed a postgraduate degree in yoga education in Bengaluru. He later established a yoga centre in Puttur and, as a yoga teacher, taught yoga to thousands of people.
