Kalladka Sharadotsava to honour B K Raj Nandavar with Shantha Shree Award

Bantwal, Oct 6: The 49th annual Sharadotsava organised by Sri Sharada Seva Prathishtana (Regd), Kalladka, will be held from October 17 to 20 with a series of religious, cultural and social programmes.

The Shantha Shree Award will be conferred on B K Raj Nandavar, a patron and promoter of the arts and Balnadu Ullalthi Patri, during the religious assembly scheduled for October 18.

As part of the celebrations, a special sports event titled ‘Marnemida Gobbu’ will be held on October 11. On October 17, the installation of Sharada Devi will be conducted with religious rituals under the guidance of Vedamurthy Palaniru Sripathi Bhat. The evening programme will feature Bharatanatyam performances by the disciples of Vidushi Vidya Manoj, along with dance presentations by local artistes, Natya Veda and Chintamani teams.

On October 18, the religious assembly will be held after the Poornahuthi of the Durga Homa in the afternoon. Srinivasa Devadiga of Netla, who has been playing the traditional drum at Netla Temple for around 45 years, will be presented with the Grama Gourava award. Film producer and director Prashanth Kalladka will receive the Prathibha Puraskar.

Students who have secured more than 90 per cent marks in SSLC and PUC examinations will also be felicitated.

Sulochana G K Bhat will preside over the religious assembly, while Dr Ravish Padumale will deliver the religious discourse. In the evening, Chaparka artistes will stage the Tulu play ‘Yanori Baroliya’.

An Aksharabhyasa programme will be held on the morning of October 19. The evening will feature the Tulu play ‘Onte Letand’ by the Sharada Arts, Manjeshwar troupe.

On October 20, the Nasikavedha ceremony for young girls and Ayudha Puja will be held. Maha Mangalarathi will be offered to the deity at 4 pm, followed by a grand procession along the Kalladka Rajaroad at 6.30 pm, marking the conclusion of the Sharadotsava.

Sri Sharada Seva Prathishtana president Yathin Kumar and secretary Vajranath Kalladka announced the programme in a release.
