Mangaluru, Oct 6: Yenepoya Medical College Hospital Deralakatte Mangaluru observed World Heart Day 2026 by organizing a heart health awareness programme and CPR training session at the hospital patient waiting area.
Dr Abhay S Nirgude, vice principal of Yenepoya Medical College was the chief guest and highlighted the importance of World Heart Day celebration.
Students from the department of cardiovascular technology staged a skit highlighting the symptoms of heart disease, its awareness and the importance of medical consultation.


Dr Habib Rahman A A, medical superintendent of Yenepoya Medical College Hospital, explained about the importance of heart awareness and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He said that adopting healthy habits, taking proper care of our heart health, and importance of positive lifestyle in improving heart health and overall well-being.
Dr Kumar K P, associate professor, department of cardiology, delivered an awareness session on heart health, healthy lifestyle practices, and warning signs of cardiac emergencies and the importance of timely medical care. Dr Aejaz Ahamed Z, assistant professor, department of anaesthesia and his team provided practical CPR training session. The participants were trained in basic CPR techniques and appropriate response during cardiac emergencies.
Nisar Ahmed, department of marketing compered the programme. Students, teaching and non-teaching staff, patient bystanders and the general public participated in the programme and benefited from this informative programme. Dr Rahul Ramanujam, department of cardiology, Mohammed Sabith, deputy hospital operations officer, Dr Vijetha Thingalaya, assistant director of quality, Noothan Lasrado, nursing superintendent and Vijayananda Shetty, senior marketing executive department of marketing were present in the awareness programme.
The programme highlighted the importance of heart health, early recognition of cardiac emergencies and timely life saving action, with active participation from the patient relatives and the public.
