Udupi, Oct 6: A district-level cooperative training programme was successfully held at Hotel Swadesh Heritage in Udupi on Friday, jointly organised by the Karnataka State Cooperative Federation Ltd, Bengaluru, Udupi District Cooperative Union Ltd, Badagabettu Credit Cooperative Society Ltd, Udupi, and the Department of Cooperation, Udupi district.
B Jayakar Shetty Indrali, president of Udupi District Cooperative Union and Badagabettu Credit Cooperative Society, inaugurated the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, he said professionalism, transparent administration, modern management skills and effective utilisation of human resources play a crucial role in the success of cooperative institutions.


He urged cooperative societies to adopt technology- and knowledge-based approaches in the changing economic environment and provide more effective member-centric services.
Chartered accountant Varun Bhat from Shivamogga, who served as the resource person, spoke on ‘Professionalism in Cooperatives and its Use for Business Development’ and ‘Human Resources: Utilisation and Development’. He explained the importance of professional management and skill development among employees for the growth of cooperative institutions.
As part of Gandhi Jayanti celebrations, floral tributes were offered to Mahatma Gandhi's portrait with a garland made of khadi yarn. Jayakar Shetty Indrali recalled the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, stating that values such as truth, simplicity, self-reliance, discipline and social responsibility continue to serve as guiding principles for the present generation.
He said that building a better society is possible only when these ideals are adopted in everyday life.
Badagabettu Credit Cooperative Society general manager Rajesh Sherigar, assistant general manager Praveen Kumar, accountant Ashwini Kumar M, directors Sadhu Salian, L Umanath, Jaya Shetty and Sadashiva Naik were present.
Naveen K, manager of the Badagabettu Credit Cooperative Society's Malpe branch, compered the programme, while Anusha Kotian, chief executive officer of Udupi District Cooperative Union, proposed the vote of thanks.
