Kejriwal holds AAP organisational meet in Goa ahead of 2027 polls

Daijiworld Media Network - Panaji

Panaji, Oct 8: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal held an organisational meeting with party leaders in Goa on Thursday as the party stepped up preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections.

The meeting comes weeks after the AAP and Goa Forward Party (GFP) announced the 'Goa First' alliance for the 2027 polls. The alliance was announced on September 13, with Kejriwal and GFP chief Vijai Sardesai describing it as a political alternative to the BJP and Congress.

AAP's organisational preparations have gained momentum ahead of the elections, with the party discussing its strategy for Goa as part of its wider preparations for upcoming state polls. The party's Political Affairs Committee had earlier discussed election preparations for Goa, Punjab and Gujarat under Kejriwal's leadership.

The Goa meeting also comes amid differences between the AAP and its GFP ally over the possibility of expanding the 'Goa First' alliance. AAP has maintained that the alliance is open to parties other than the BJP and Congress, while Sardesai has recently said the Congress should also be accommodated in the opposition alliance.

The 2027 Goa Assembly elections are scheduled to be held before March next year. AAP currently has two MLAs in the 40-member Assembly, while the GFP has one MLA.
