Neuer Concedes Bundesliga’s fastest goal as Bayern draw, Vinícius sent off in Spain

Spain, Oct 11: Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer conceded the fastest goal in Bundesliga history as Bayern were held to a 2-2 draw by Augsburg, while Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior was sent off in a 1-0 victory over Villarreal as European football leagues resumed after the international break.

Bayern suffered an early setback when Robin Fellhauer scored just eight seconds into the match after Neuer mishandled an attempted chipped clearance. Ismael Saibari equalised for Bayern in the 55th minute, but Rodrigo Ribeiro restored Augsburg’s lead nine minutes later. Nathaniel Brown secured a point for Bayern with an equaliser in the 81st minute.

Bayer Leverkusen continued their improved form under Spanish coach Carles Martínez with a 4-3 victory over Mainz. Christopher Nkunku scored a hat-trick as Leipzig thrashed Eintracht Frankfurt 6-0. Hamburger SV defeated Hoffenheim 3-2 through Miro Muheim’s stoppage-time goal, while Union Berlin registered their first victory of the season with a 1-0 win over Elversberg. Stuttgart beat Paderborn 2-0.

In Spain, Rayo Vallecano’s match against Athletic Bilbao was suspended after home supporters repeatedly threw paper airplanes and other objects onto the pitch in protest against club owner Raúl Martín Presa. The match marked Rayo’s first home league fixture of the season after the stadium had initially been closed by city authorities over safety concerns. Presa has faced opposition from sections of the club’s fan base since taking over in 2011.

Barcelona continued their impressive start to the La Liga season, matching their best-ever start with an eighth consecutive victory. The defending champions defeated Getafe 3-0 despite the absence of injured top scorer Raphinha. Anthony Gordon scored his first goal since joining Barcelona, while Gabriel Jesus found the net in his first start.

Atletico Madrid defeated Deportivo La Coruna 2-1 to remain second in the standings, five points behind Barcelona.

Real Madrid secured a 1-0 win over Villarreal, but Vinícius Júnior was sent off after pulling the hair of Villarreal’s Nathan Saliba. The referee, Isidro Díaz de Mera, reviewed the incident following a video assistant referee intervention, disallowed Vinícius’ goal and showed him a direct red card. Yan Diomande scored early in the second half to give Madrid the victory.

In the Premier League, defending champions Arsenal recovered to defeat Leeds 2-1, with Bruno Guimarães coming off the bench to score on his home debut. Arsenal moved level on points with Manchester City at the top ahead of City’s trip to Liverpool on Sunday.

Chelsea recorded a 5-1 victory over Bournemouth, with Jordan Henderson scoring twice. Tottenham earned a 1-1 draw away to Manchester United despite playing with 10 men. Brighton defeated 10-man Sunderland to remain third, while fourth-placed Brentford drew 2-2 with Aston Villa.

In France, Paris Saint-Germain defeated Le Mans 3-1, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia making an impact after coming off the bench. Ousmane Dembélé and Nuno Mendes were rested ahead of PSG’s Champions League match against Manchester City on Tuesday.

Lorient ended Paris FC’s unbeaten start with a 1-0 victory. Monaco surrendered a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw against Toulouse, while Brest thrashed Angers 5-1.

In Italy, Scott McTominay returned to action for Napoli for the first time since undergoing minor heart surgery last month. The Scotland midfielder came on as a second-half substitute in a 3-0 victory over promoted Frosinone, with Kevin De Bruyne scoring twice.

Inter Milan defeated Parma 3-0, with Marcus Thuram among three players scoring in the first half. The victory kept Inter three points clear at the top of Serie A, ahead of Roma and Lazio, who were scheduled to play on Sunday. Genoa defeated Fiorentina 2-1.
