Mumbai, Oct 15: Khosla Ka Ghosla 2, the sequel to Dibakar Banerjee's 2006 cult comedy Khosla Ka Ghosla!, has a new release date. The film, starring Anupam Kher and Boman Irani, will now arrive in theatres on March 5, 2027, instead of its previously announced release date of August 28, 2026.
The makers announced the revised release date through their social media handles and unveiled a new poster for the film.
The new release date has also raised the possibility of a box-office clash with Salman Khan's upcoming film Monster, which is scheduled for an Eid 2027 release. Eid is expected to fall around March 10, 2027, although the festival date will depend on the sighting of the moon. If both films arrive around the same period, they could compete for audiences during the festive season.
Salman Khan has traditionally enjoyed strong box-office performance during Eid, making the possibility of such a clash particularly noteworthy. One of the notable instances of an Eid-period release clash was in 2011, when his film Bodyguard arrived in theatres on August 31 alongside Kirron Kher-starrer Mummy Punjabi and the Pakistani film Bol. Kalki Koechlin's That Girl In Yellow Boots followed on September 2.
The original Khosla Ka Ghosla!, released in 2006, marked the directorial debut of Dibakar Banerjee. Written by Jaideep Saini, the comedy revolved around Kamal Kishore Khosla, an elderly patriarch of a middle-class Delhi family who attempts to reclaim his land after it is fraudulently taken over by a property developer.
The film earned a lasting place among Hindi cinema's popular cult comedies for its portrayal of middle-class aspirations, property disputes and a family's efforts to outwit a powerful builder.
The sequel has been directed by Priya Mishra and Prashant Bhagia. Alongside Anupam Kher and Boman Irani, the film will feature Ranvir Shorey, Parvin Dabas, Tara Sharma and Kiran Juneja, who are set to reprise their roles.
The cast will also include Ravi Kishan, Divya Khossla, Nishant Verma, Kangan Baruah Nangia and Danish Iqbal.
Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar under T-Series Films, in association with Savita Raj Hiremath and Raj Hiremath's Tandav Films.
With the return of familiar characters and the addition of new cast members, the sequel aims to revisit the world of the original comedy nearly 21 years after its theatrical release.
