Gorakhpur, Oct 21: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath halted the traditional Vijayadashami procession from Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur to allow an ambulance carrying a critically ill patient to pass through the crowded area.

The incident took place on Tuesday evening when the procession, led by Yogi Adityanath in his capacity as Gorakshpeethadhishwar, was moving past the temple’s main gate amid a large gathering of devotees and tight security arrangements.

On hearing the ambulance siren, the chief minister immediately instructed security personnel to stop the procession and clear the way for the emergency vehicle.

Security personnel promptly halted the procession, while devotees and other people at the spot cooperated in clearing the road. Despite the heavy crowd and limited space, the ambulance passed through without obstruction.

The procession resumed along its designated route only after the ambulance had moved ahead.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, with people praising the chief minister for prioritising the patient's life over protocol and tradition.

The incident has drawn attention to the importance of ensuring that emergency vehicles receive priority passage, even during major public gatherings and religious processions.
