Modi Not Impressed with IPL's Opening Ceremony

New Delhi, Apr 4 (IANS): Former Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Lalit Modi was not impressed with the glamorous opening ceremony of the Twenty20 league in Chennai.

"Can't bear to watch it anymore - as on Tv it looks appalling. Was really looking forward to seeing something well presented. I am sure the Ratings will show," Modi, who is in London, wrote on the micro-blogging site Twitter.

Modi said having the opening ceremony in a proper stadium would have been better rather than having it at the YMCA Ground.

"I would have preferred Opening Ceremony to be in A Stadium atmosphere, before a game. Rather than like a Concert like opening. The truth is I am in complete Shock - that a show like this can be staged. What was the Bcci thinking when they decided on this format," he tweeted.

Modi was the architect of the IPL and was in charge of it in 2008, 2009 and 2010 before being suspended by the BCCI on charges of financial irregularities.

IPL is the brainchild of Mr.Modi!! All the credit goes to him!! Everybody made money out of it. Some frachies show that they are in loss becouse they dont want to pay the tax. Now just wait for MODI to announce IPL style league in LONDON!!! it is all happening boss. If he can shift complete ipl from india to south africa in a week of time , then he can do anything.

No one will satisfy with such a disasterous opening ceremony. Even school / college sports days opening ceremonies will be better than that.

I agree with Mr. Lalith Modi..yesterday's opening ceremony was a disaster and performance was pathetic...looked like a film fare award. Infact they spent crores on kareen's travelling, salman and chopra, which was no use at all....infact they would have done it in a stadium with colour full dances and cultural programmes...BCCI dont know how to spend which they have, wasting like water.
