Three Libyans Beat Up Two Afghans in Gurgaon

Gurgaon, Apr 4 (IANS): Three anti-Gaddafi rebels from Libya thrashed two Afghans outside Sahara Mall here in a drunken brawl early Tuesday. All the five people were arrested and later released on bail, police said. The Libyans are in India for treatment.

Libyans Ahmed Ali, Naem Ali and Goseria Foress, aged 22-23, beat up Afghans Mohammad Yasin, 40, and Abdul Kalam, 35. Both the victims suffered minor injuries.

"All of them were heavily drunk and fighting when they were arrested around 2 a.m. early Tuesday. They were later released," investigation officer Krishan Kumar told IANS.

"The Libyans claimed they were part of the rebels who killed Gaddafi. For the last couple of months they were getting medical treatment at the Artemis hospital here and were sent by the Libyan government," police said.

"They were involved in similar incidents earlier. They were granted bail on the assurance of the Libyan embassy that they would be sent back to their country in a day or two," Krishan Kumar added.

Yasin is an ornament trader while Kalam deals in handlooms. They were staying in a hotel near Indira Gandhi International airport in Delhi.
