Moscow, Apr 7 (IANS/RIA Novosti): A Lebanese national has been detained in Russia on suspicion of trafficking a Russian woman to Lebanon and forcing her to work as a prostitute, officials said.
The man allegedly trafficked the Russian woman in 2009. The woman, from Novocheboksarsk city, was tricked by false promises of a job in a restaurant, Russia's Investigative Committee said.
The man's 34-year-old female accomplice was also held.
The Russian woman was stripped of her passport when she arrived in Lebanon in September 2009 and told to "provide services of a sexual nature" in a night club in the coastal town of Tabarja, the committee said in a statement.
The woman managed to contact the Russian embassy several weeks later and was safely brought back home.
