Fake Chinese Monks Held for Partying

Beijing, Apr 9 (IANS): Two fake monks have been detained in the Chinese capital for improper behaviour, including drinking and flirting with women.

Dressed in yellow robes and drinking beer on the subway, the two men were photographed depositing large sums of money in a bank and attempting to check into a hotel along with the women, the China Daily reported.

When the fake monks visited the Fayuan Temple in Beijing, the real monks there became suspicious and called the police.

The daily said they were detained as they could not provide any certificates to prove they were monks.

Internet users said the move was a publicity stunt. Their motive is being probed.
