New Delhi, Apr 15 (IANS): Votters in parts of the capital Sunday boycotted the trifurcated Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls to protest poor civic amenities in their areas.

According to the state Election Commission, there were reports of poll boycott in Ladpur and Sanoth areas of north Delhi and Kazipur village in outer Delhi.

The polling booths wore a deserted look as the voting started at 8 a.m. The polling officers kept waiting for people, who instead stood outside the polling booths chit-chatting.

"There are 1,280 voters in our area and 10 candidates are standing. We have decided that this time we will not vote for any candidate as in last so many years nothing has improved in our area. We still don't have any dispensary, or any other civic amenity," said a resident of Kazipur village.

People also boycotted polling in Ladpur and Sanoth areas quoting similar reasons.

"We decided this time to boycott polls so that we could get the attention of administration, which otherwise turns a deaf ear to our problems," said a resident of Ladpur area.
