Bellary, Apr 19: A youth, who used to attack girl students moving in their two wheelers on Y Mahabaleshwarappa Engineering College Road, Veerashaiva College Road and roads adjacent to the play grounds, was arrested on Tuesday April 17  night. With this, the college students, who had stopped using these roads after developing fear about this lurking attacker, have heaved a sigh of relief.

The arrested person has been identified as Rajesh (24), residing at Dhobi Street in the town. He used to hide behind different objects on these roads, and suddenly pounce upon the college girls moving on their two-wheelers, and injure them with blade and knife before escaping.

A number of students had fallen victim to the man’s designs. The daughter of one of the police officers was one of his victims. A college student, who had become unconscious after being attacked by this attacker recently, was able to  provide details about the youth.

The college governing council, based on the statement of this girl, had filed an official complaint with the police. Police inspector Y D Agasimani, who was moving on a road, came across Rajesh who was trying to attack a girl student on Tuesday night. He arrested Rajesh with the help of other police personnel, and produced him in a court.
