'Prerana - United Friends Kolalgiri', was inaugurated by industrialist Pramod Madhavaraj along with Steevan D’Souza, a 'Thalassemia major disease patient of Kolalgiri, by lighting a flying balloon on Tuesday May 1, at Kolalgiri.

"I have attended several public functions but today I feel really happy to see the youths of Kolalgiri coming under “Prerana” to serve the needy people. Even if they are not in a position to do so, with the help of well-wishers they are fulfulling the needs of the poor. If anyone wants to join any organization he or she should come to 'Prerana'", said Pramod Madhawaraj.

"In Bhagavat Geeta it is mentioned that we must share the sorrow of others, but nowadays we see sadistic people who feel happy at other's sadness. Just sponsoring or giving financial support to the needy is not enough. Those who serve them even without giving financial help are doing real service to the society," he opined.

He recalled his own experience and said, "I had struggled in my small room at Kolalgiri for seven years, but today, I am able to live a comfortable life. We have to give without expecting anything in return, without any publicity, and most importantly, we must ensure that what we give reaches the needy."

He also promised to look after Steevan's medical expenses three months a year.

Financial help for Steevan D’Souza, aged 7 years (Rs 30,000), liver patient Sanjana Moily, 5 years (Rs 20,000), and kidney patient Ramesh Poojary, aged 54 years (Rs 15,000) was handed over by the organization through the chief guest.
