Udupi, May 8: N B Aboobakkar, chairman of Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation, put forward various new plans and projects for overall development of the minority communities.

Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday May 8, he briefed the development projects carried out in the last three years in Udupi.

He said the government is keen to implement various beneficiary projects for the minorities. The projects of the corporation are borewells, housing facilities, technical help for students, agricultural land for farmers and job for the educated youth at ICICI and IDB and women welfare.

‘Mane Katida Baddi Sahaya Yojane’ is a unique project which began from 2007. According to this project, minorities will have to pay only the amount which they take from the bank and the interest will be paid by the corporation, he said.

The government provides funds of Rs 20 to 35 crores every year for the development of minorities. Only about Rs 10 to 14 crores have been used for minority development programmes. In future the allotment of money will on the basis of the population of a particular minority group. The project will be soon accessed online, he added.
