Three Held for Boarding Flight Without Valid Ticket in Bangalore

Bangalore, May 9 (PTI) : Three persons were today arrested at the airport here for attempting to travel by a New Delhi-bound Kingfisher flight by fraudulently obtaining boarding passes, police said.

The three, who had come to the city to attend Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka Examination, had obtained the boarding passes by providing the PNR number of a ticket and claiming that they had lost the ticket.

Samsher Bahadur Singh, Vikas Kumar (both from Bihar) and Nitesh (Uttar Pradesh) were arrested when the original holders of the ticket also turned up for the journey, Police said.
The police are on the look out for a Bangalore-based travel agent in connection with the incident.

It is not generally possible to travel on someone else's tickets these days. Photo ID is required even to collect ticket giving PNR / Ticket number. How can staff concerned commit a mistake like this? Passengers will want to take chances, but airline staff has to be careful also.
Entry to airport is with valid ticket & valid photo id card, in which case where is the chance of this kind of lapses, I wonder?? Lets say security let them in, as they chcek in for flight, again staff at check in counter will verify passengers ID card / name etc.
There has to be some serious connections in this case, else it is rae to happen.

Their boarding cards seem to have been obtained with much ease. In this day and age, one would expect security measures to be much more stringent.
